Animals on Mull and Iona

Our trip to the Isle of Mull and Isle of Iona was just amazing, and on top of that we saw lots of animals. There were sheep everywhere and not at all bothered with cars and the like passing them by. In fact they walked by the side of the road, in the middle of the road and crossed the road whenever!

On our way back from Iona we passed a big group of ducks that once we had parked and I tried to take photos they all went on their merry way.

The cow in the last photo was one of the best it just carried on walking in spite of us driving very slowly behind it. In fact I think we were all a bit nervous as there were many cows on either side of the road. But everything ended well and we passed without incident!

Today is the last school day for Alessio and later on today we will drop by the Christmas market at Bellevue and have something to eat, then we will catch the new Star Wars movie.

Happy Christmas to everyone!

This weekend I finally saw the movie The Girl on the Train, while I had already read the book so knew what the outcome would be, I still enjoyed it.

I Visited the Christmas market at Bellevue twice this weekend and will be there again tomorrow evening. It has some great food stalls and not to mention the mulled wine!

Wishing you all a great week!

Weekend in Geneva

The weekend we had in Geneva was back in September and it was the ill fated trip where I tripped and torn my ligaments in my right foot. At least it happened right at the end of our weekend if it had to happen at all!

My parents and I took the train from Zurich and in around 3 hours were in Geneva, our hotel was not too far from the station. Once settled in we walked into the city centre and of course saw the famous water jet. I already did a post on this a few months back.

We visited and saw all the usual tourist sites and enjoyed a few glasses of wine in between too! Later in the afternoon we went to Carouge with the tram, which is a city just next to Geneva. It has lots of restaurants, cafes, bars and boutique shops. We could not find a restaurant open so we only stopped for some wine instead. Afterwards we headed back to into Geneva, had dinner and back to the hotel. My father and I had a wonder around the city centre later on in the evening and saw the jet d`eau, which in the evening is lighted up.

The next day we visited the small town of Hermonice, which I will do a short post on soon and had a glimpse of the Villa Diodacti which Lord Byron rented for a few months in the summer of 1816.

We were then going to see the United Nations buildings, but then I tripped walking down a ramp and the rest is history as they say!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Photo of the Week - Black Ink Fountain

Photo of the week is from Luxembourg, we visited the MUDAM which is the Musée d`Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean. It shows contemporary art and we both liked many of the pieces (well as much as Alessio can like an art museum). This was my favorite piece black ink fountain by Su-Mei Tse.

Wishing you all a happy mid -week!

Tobermory/Balamory

Tobermory is the capital of the Isle of Mull in the Inner Hebrides and it is a very colourful town as you can see from the photos. The town is also the setting for the well known kid`s programme Balamory! It has a whiskey distillery which you can visit but we did not have enough time. There are nice restaurants, arts and craft shops, I bought some lovely stuff. Some interesting information is that legend has it that one of the Spanish Armada ships sunk carrying gold bullion in its sheltered bay. We did visit all over the island and more posts about the isle will come!

Hope you all had a lovely weekend! I certainly had a busy one, Friday evening saw Alessio, his class, plus 12 others singing Christmas songs in a church in Zurich. It was lovely and we could see Alessio very well from his position.

On Saturday I saw some good friends Aimee, Janet and Claire that I had not seen for a while. It was great to catch up and chat. In the evening Janet and Claire came round for raclette with two other friends.

On Sunday Alessio and I went to see the movie Sing, it is very good and we both enjoyed it. Beforehand we had met some other friends before two of them did the New Year`s Run.
