The last day of October or Halloween is upon us, I usually do not do much except make pumpkin pie (which I will do later). I used to have a Halloween party in the past, really decorate the place with lots of fun stuff, maybe it is time to start them again. Here are a selection of Halloween photos!
Wishing everyone a Happy Halloween!
This is about my life in Zurich, all the places I visit, what I get up to with my son and anything I think is good to blog about.

Kindercity
During the October holidays we went with Aimee, Lily and Noah to Kindercity, we went by public transport. I had wanted to check out this place for ages and now the time came, but I was disappointed. I suppose the first thing was, that the entrance prices for an adult it is 17.50ch which is quite steep even for Swiss standards, considering as adults you are there to watch your kids. Then the kids pay 14.50ch also quite a lot, really. Once in the kids were busy running around trying out hands on experiements so it is a lot to do with science and the envirnoment.
This is Noah!
Upstairs there is a water area which proved to be a hit, climbling wall, and other things too. Eventually we all went for lunch which has the usual kids menu.
On the roof they have these cars which of course both boys liked but it cost 6ch each, then there is a train driving round which is 4ch. They did not go on that plus 2 playgrounds which were good fun.
Well on the whole I was glad to finally go and see what this is place is all about, but I will not go back again though.

Photo of the Week - The Donkey and the Rabbit
I came across this pair on my visit to Aarberg a few weeks ago, I was just walking around the town and suddenly I saw them, I think it is really cute, maybe the rabbit thinks the donkey is real! Who knows!I have won a blog award, my first! More on that once I figure out how to put the award link up (really not good at these things). The award is from Hot Coco@www.flabtofab.com, I will link it the next time! Thanks for thinking of me!

A Weekend in Alsace
Last weekend Alessio and I went to visit a good friend of mine Alison, who lives in a small town in France, Hirsingue. We have visitied numerous times but this time marked the fact that I drove myself, the drive itself went well. Hirsingue is only about 50 mins from Basel in a region of France called Alsace. I have been many times to this area it is very interesting and lots places to see and things to do.Sunday afternoon Alessio went for a short walk around the town with the main reason to find a playground, but alas it was closed.
A charming river flows through the town!
Alison has horses, a pony and 3 dogs, sadly I did not take a photo of them, but sufficed to say I can just about cope with them without breaking out in sweat!
Monday morning we drove back to Zurich, thanks again to Alison.

Zermatt - Huts
Time is going by quite fast and it already nearing the end of October, but back in September (last post on Zermatt) we went with my parents for a long weekend. I noticed these lovely huts not sure what they are used for but maybe storage.
Most seemed to be nicely decorated either with flowers or ornaments, but in any case all there stunning.

B is for Books
Time for an alphabet post, some letters are easy to find a subject and the letter B was quite easy. I love to read books, I often buy new ones, if I have free time I like to spend it in a book shop. This is my shelf at home with numerous books still TBR (to be read).Walking around Zurich I saw lots of photo opportunities of books and antique book shops which is are a few in the area I was walking in.
This is a very nice travel book shop, but sadly all books are in German but still nice to look at though.
I recently have managed to get through around 4 or 5 books, seem to be on a roll. The latest one is called Catching the Tide by Judith Lennox and enjoying it very much so far.

Lake Zurich Trail - Section 8
At the beginning of October Alessio and I did section 8 of the trail which is Stäfa to Meilen. It is 11.5km and takes about 2h 30mins, we probably took a bit longer. Once in Stäfa we took the bus up as far as we could, then we walked a bit to meet the trail.
It was a warm day and we stopped often for rests and for snacks, we passed many vineyards as this area is known for wine.
A little reminder of Scotland!
A bright and colourful hut, we passed a few of these!
We walked through forests, saw lovely views of the lake and lots of farm land.
From here you can go up to the Pfannenstiel(we did not go) it is the second mountain of Zurich. Here we are reaching Meilen, we started to walk through the Meilemer tobel but took a road down into the town and missed on seeing the ruins of Friedberg castle.

An Outing to Rapperswil
For one of our outings with the children at my work was to the Circus Museum in Rapperswil. The topic for this month was Circus so it seemed an ideal place to visit, the children were all excited about the visit.
You can watch around 5 videos of related circus topics, we watch a few of them. There is a dressing up box of big clown clothes and a table with pictures to colour in.
About an hour is enough to see all, then we went and found a nice spot for lunch. Rapperswil is a lovely city to visit and there is lots to do and see.
Once lunch was over we walked up to the castle, which has these deers and the children played at the playground. We were really lucky with the weather again.
The area by the lake has such lovely buildings, trying not to take lots of photos was quite hard.
Spread around the lake area are these huge benches and the children loved to climb up and sit on them.
We went back to Au by boat which was really nice and the children enjoyed it too! The circus museum is in the tourist information office by the lake in an upstairs room.
