Jucker Farm/Bächlihof Visit

Alessio and I visited Jucker Farm with his friend Josiah in September and we had as usual a great day. Alessio and Josiah played on the giant haystack for a while and then they went around the maze too. I wondered around the farm and bought gourds for the house. I do like to see the different types and fantastic colours. We also had some yummy food, I do like the pumpkin soup there. They have a great selection of desserts, which I had to take some home of course.

In October I went to Bächlihof farm with the kids from my work. They always have a great time, again with the haystack and the play area too. The theme this year was forest animals and they were as usual just amazing.

This weekend at Jucker farm it is the Christmas market, I have been twice and it is always nice. Most of the Christmas markets will be opened this weekend, so we will go to the one at Bellevue as Alessio is desperate to have a Luma Burger!

Autumn time!

Tonight is Halloween and Alessio has gone out with some school friends, so no Halloween pics. Instead some autumn photos from the past two months, I have too say that I really love autumn, especially when there is nice weather.

I haven`t even visited Jucker Farm this year as injuring my foot meant that walks and long trips were put off! I did go up to Park in Green and snap some of these photos from there and the decorations on the table are from my outdoor area. The wreath is from my neighbour!

Halloween Fun!

Autumn is my favorite season, I like the colours of the leaves and the fact that is not too hot anymore! There is usually a lot on during the autumn months, harvest, Halloween and in Switzerland it is lantern time (rabeliechtli). This happens in November many towns have parades, it is a turnip hollowed out with designs on it. The one in Richterswil is well known, this year it will take place on Saturday 14th November, definitely worth seeing if you have not seen it!

Halloween is still not a big thing in Switzerland, so there is not so much to buy if you are wanting to celebrate. I had a party last weekend and that was fun!

As I mentioned in my last post about the brave squirrel I saw in Brighton, I also saw quite a few in Kew Gardens too!

The two pumpkin farms we visited also has lots of lovely autumn sights from the selection of pumpkins and other types, haystacks for the kids and good food.

There are usually lots of chestnut sellers in Switzerland they start in September and carry on until March!

Jucker Farm Visit

Back at the end of September Alessio and myself went to visit Jucker farm, it was a glorious day and as you can imagine very busy. As usual we wandered around and I bought a selection of gourds to take home. Alessio played on the haystack and the playground. He also went into the goats pen and fed some of them. This year the exhibits were on the theme of flying, as you can see from some of the photos! I am always amazed by the amount and different types of pumpkins and other vegetables there are available. The colours are just wonderful, no wonder everyone is taking photos!

I ate of course some pumpkin soup (delicious) and Alessio had his normal pasta. It was a lovely day out and soon it will be ending around the beginning of November. I have a trip to the sister farm Bächlihof in Jona tomorrow with work. If you have not managed to visit so far then get yourselves down there!

The mountain goat strikes again!

At the end of September Alessio and I had a free friday, we went to the Jungfrau region, to visit Schynige Platte which is 1,967m above see level. Once you arrive in Interlaken, it is only one stop to Wilderswil, where the historic cogwheel railway is situated.

It takes 50mins to go the short 7km, but once up you are rewarded with magnificent views of the Jungfrau, Eiger and Mönch to mention but a few. It was somewhat cloudy so the views were not completely clear, but nevertheless still amazing.

Once up we stopped in the restaurant for some refuelling and then Alessio got a chance to play at the small playground. Afterwards I think we did the panoramaway which takes you to the viewpoint called Daube, it certainly gave us lots of exercise. It was worth all the huffing and puffing to see the 360 degrees view of Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, the famous mountain trio and interlaken.

I hope to visit more mountains this year including Titlis and Schilthorn, where one of the James Bond movies was filmed.
