This is about my life in Zurich, all the places I visit, what I get up to with my son and anything I think is good to blog about.

Jucker Farm/Bächlihof Visit
Alessio and I visited Jucker Farm with his friend Josiah in September and we had as usual a great day. Alessio and Josiah played on the giant haystack for a while and then they went around the maze too. I wondered around the farm and bought gourds for the house. I do like to see the different types and fantastic colours. We also had some yummy food, I do like the pumpkin soup there. They have a great selection of desserts, which I had to take some home of course.
In October I went to Bächlihof farm with the kids from my work. They always have a great time, again with the haystack and the play area too. The theme this year was forest animals and they were as usual just amazing.
This weekend at Jucker farm it is the Christmas market, I have been twice and it is always nice. Most of the Christmas markets will be opened this weekend, so we will go to the one at Bellevue as Alessio is desperate to have a Luma Burger!

This Weekend`s Activities

Very busy place!
Towards the end of the afternoon!
This weekend was a busy one certainly for Alessio! He has started again football training and on Saturday we had his first match and scored a goal too! I have no photos as I did not go with him but he has really cool football shoes!
Afterwards we headed into Zurich to see the new Pixar movie called Inside Out which we both really enjoyed. I am always amazed how many adults without kids go to these movies, before I had Alessio I would not go to this type of movie.
Sunday we headed to Juncker farm which is typically extremely busy at this time of year. As it is the pumpkin season and there are usually 7 or 8 sculptures made out of different types of pumpkins. This year the theme is circus. Alessio spent the whole time on the haystack which is much smaller than last year, he managed to befriends some kids and had a whale of a time. We also did the apple maze this time, which consists of answering 9 questions correctly and getting to the end of the maze, Alessio really liked this.
Hope you all had a great weekend too!

Jucker Farm Visit
Back at the end of September Alessio and myself went to visit Jucker farm, it was a glorious day and as you can imagine very busy. As usual we wandered around and I bought a selection of gourds to take home. Alessio played on the haystack and the playground. He also went into the goats pen and fed some of them. This year the exhibits were on the theme of flying, as you can see from some of the photos! I am always amazed by the amount and different types of pumpkins and other vegetables there are available. The colours are just wonderful, no wonder everyone is taking photos!
I ate of course some pumpkin soup (delicious) and Alessio had his normal pasta. It was a lovely day out and soon it will be ending around the beginning of November. I have a trip to the sister farm Bächlihof in Jona tomorrow with work. If you have not managed to visit so far then get yourselves down there!

Jucker Farm - Straw Exhibits
Such a cute fluffy bunny!
Views of Lake Pfaffikon
The first two months of 2014 are finished and looking back have not been to hardly any places, but I did go here. You may know of Jucker farm from the pumpkins exhibitions they have every autumn but this is new, the straw festival.
Alessio and I went at the end of January with our neighbours Barbara and her daughter Alessia, luckily it was a clear blue sky day. As soon as we arrived the kids just wanted to play on the giant haystack, but we told them first to should look around at the exhibits. Afterwards we all went to eat and the kids played in the playground, Barbara and I looked around the shop as she had never been to the place before.
With a sprinkling of snow on the ground the views were nice and there was the fire lit with the possibility to grill your own sausage. The only thing is that if it is really very cold then you do want not to sit outside, even if the kids do want to play outside. An afternoon or morning is enough to see everything and eat, it remains to be seen if this will be as successful as the pumpkin one.

A September Afternoon in Jucker Farm
The visit to Jucker farm this year was with my parents who had never been there, we also decided to walk around Lake Pfäffikon too. The whole day turned out to be lovely, my parents enjoyed their first time at the farm. I always like to come here as does Alessio, who can keep himself busy. This time he really enjoyed going into the goat area and stroking them, once upon a time he would have been scared to do this.
We enjoyed some yummy pumpkin soup and later on coffee and fruit tart, all made here. The only negative point was the amount of wasps. I usually go in October and had never noticed them so much, I guess we went quite early, this time around so they bothered us terribly. My mother and myself really cannot stand still with a wasp around.
There is also the opportunity to pick your own fruit from apples, pears and berries. It is a good idea, maybe another we will do this. Next week I go the the sister farm in Jonas with the children from work, so looking forward to see what they have to offer. There is still plenty of time to visit as the exhibition is on until the beginning of November and then they usually have a weekend Christmas market towards the end of November.
