Sunset on the Otago Peninsula, New Zealand

I do love to see sunsets and sunrises, this one was seen returning from our wildlife tour on the Otago peninsula. As we headed off to Dunedin, we were lucky to see this sunset, I took the photos from inside the minivan.

Today I went to the Christmas Bazaar, held each year by the St.Andrew´s Anglican Church. It has all the usual stuff you can think of, books, dvds, British food, Christmas crackers, toys and some other stuff. I, of course bought books and treated myself to some scones and a tin of custard.

Tonight I am hosting a staff (Christmas) meal, everyone brought stuff to work during the week I then brought to my place. It will be my first fondue of the season, there will be salads and desserts and of course drinks.

Sunset in Helsinki

On our last night in Helsinki back in June we went to a roof top bar, we actually sat inside as it was too cold to sit outside. We were rewarded with a fantastic sunset, we were always amazed how light it stayed until late in the night.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings all had big storms! Really, really loud thunder on one of the evenings, but before the storm started on Sunday I was treated to a lovely sunset! It is a shame that there are many buildings around here as it would have been such a fantastic sight!

An Afternoon in Ascona

I spent the 3 days after Christmas with my friend Natalie in the Ticino. Her mother has an apartment in the village of Ronco which is quite near to Ascona. We travelled down by train on the 26th and once we had settled in we went to Ascona.

I had never visited Ascona before so I was excited to walk around and see the amazing view of the waterfront. Ascona is on Lake Maggiore, this is a very big lake with most of it in Italy. We walked around the old part, looked at the shops which were mostly closed. The waterfront is very pretty with lots of lovely colourful buildings, which are mostly restaurants, cafes and bars.

We were lucky enough to see a wonderful sunset just as we arrived, it was lovely to watch. Then we walked about 15 mins to a bar/restaurant called Beach Lounge for some evening drinks. A good start to my mini!

Another Sunset!

Whenever possible I like to take photos of sunsets and these were taken in Oslo from my hotel window. We were on the highest floor so I just stuck my head out the window see to the view and suddenly saw this, quickly got my camera and the rest is history. I was going for a photo of the week but could not decide which one to use so decided to use all three.

Well is it nearly the weekend, which is always good!!

Sunset in Germany

I have to say I am a big fan of seeing the sun set or rise, and when if possible to take photos. Uusually on my way to work I see some great views and often think to myself if only I could just stop the car and take some photos, but I never do.

So when on the return trip to Zurich two weekends ago from Munich I got the opportunity to do so, I grabbed my camera and snapped away. Thank God I was not driving ( no I am not that crazy), although it is not so easy to take photos in a moving car and through glass.

The colours were just spectacular and so strong, it was really a delight to see and it made an great ending to a fab weekend away.

Photo of the Week - Bright Orange

This was taken in Copenhagen on our first evening in the city, we had been walking around exploring, had eaten dinner and decided to continue to the port area Nyhavn. It is a 17th century waterfront, canal and entertainment district in Copenhagen, and it is famous for the buildings along the waterfront. We were crossing a bridge and I saw this beautiful orange in the sky. It just looked wonderful and hopefully the photo looks good.

Photo of the Week - Evening Sun

So for my last post in August it is time for a photo of the week and the weather has changed here quite dramatically from over 30 degrees to around 17 or even less. This is a reminded of when we had the hot times, even though it was far so hot for this scottish girl! I took this in Zurich after being at the park with friends having had a BBQ. I guess it was after 8pm and the sun is just about to set, I also like how you can see these two people in the river.

Photo of the Week - Pink Sun!

Photo of the Week comes from the island of Menorca in the Mediterranean where Alessio and I spent one week with my parents and my sister`s family too. We stayed in a resort called Son Bou relatively near to the capital Mahon.

On my first evening in the resort we all saw this wonderful sunset, having seen a few in my lifetime this one has to be the most beautiful if only due the sun being pinkish! I took more photos but this has the sun showing itself the most pink, just lovely!
