Zurich Film Festival 2016

When the Zurich Film Festival was here at the end of September I saw one film called American Pastoral which was the directorial debut of Ewan McGregor. I really enjoyed the film and would recommend it! Here is the trailer, it is adapted from Philip Roth`s Pulitzer Price book of the same name.

We had front row seats of Jennifer Connelly and Ewan McGregor who came on stage to talk about the movie before it started.

I also saw the actor Alexander Skarsgard when he came for his new film War on Everyone, I didn`t see the film but it looks really funny! Here is the trailer! It was really great to see him in real life!

Zurich Film Festival 2014

The 10th Zurich Film Festival took place and as usual there were many celebrities to keep everyone  happy. Some of the famous people that passed through were Cate Blanchett, John Malkovich, Zach Braff, the cast of the film Northmen a Viking Saga, Diane Keaton, Hans Zimmer, Peter Fonda and Rene Russo amongst the many.

Getting tickets for the premieres which has the star and/or director appearing go rather fast, but I somehow managed to get tickets for Automata which starred Antonio Banderas. It was an interesting film and he talked a little beforehand to the audience. Then I also saw the new Liam Neeson film A Walk Among the Tombstones, it was also a good movie, but at times a bit gory! He spoke also beforehand and he spoke quiet softly it was at times hard to hear him.

Anyway it was fun to have a bit of Hollywood in Zurich, lets hope next year is also full of big names.

Zurich Film Festival

The Zurich film festival finished on Sunday 6th October, I managed to see two films this time, the first one was called Filth by the director Jon S Baird. The film is from the book by the Scottish writer Irvine Welch, who also wrote Trainspotting. Luckliy for everyone at the premiere, we all got a chance to see the Scottish actor James Mcavoy and the director Jon S Baird.

Excitment abound while waiting outside the cinema for the black car to drive up and finally it happened all, his fans started screaming. I must say he really did spend a lot of time signing autographs and getting his photo snapped with fans. We took our seats and before the film started both guests came onto the stage for a short interview. I took loads of photos, but suffice to say will not be having a job as a paparazzi as most of the photos came out all blurred but some were decent enough to use!

The film is very good and would recommend it to everyone! For myself I liked hearing the Scottish accent, hearing Scottish words that I have not heard for ages and seeing parts of Edinburgh was great too.

The last film I saw was called Only Lovers  Left Alive, it was quite a strange film and not too sure I liked it. I thought it would be good as it starred Tom Hiddleston and Tilda Swinton, but not really my cup of tea.

Photo of the Week - Zurich Film Festival

The film festival has been finished for a while now, but with being busy and away on holiday only now I manage to put up a small post on the subject.

This was taken at the Frauenbadi which means swimming area only for women, there was the location for two different aperos. My friend and I were lucky that a friend of hers was invited to this apero and had two spare tickets. So off we went to the place which was decorated very nicely to get lots of free drinks and lovely food, unbeknown to me we were also going to the premiere of the new Til Schweiger ( a famous German actor) film called Schutengel. He was supposed to be there but sadly he was unable to make it so his producer came and spoke to the audience.

Still we had a great time and we could have continued with the partying with more free drinks but we both had to work early the next day.
