A Day in Montenegro!

Kotor Cathedral

Wall of the city

Church of our Lady of the Rock

Perast

While we were in Croatia during the Spring holidays we took a day trip to the neighbouring country of Montenegro. We went on a guided tour by bus from Dubrovnik, once we arrived in the beautiful city of Kotor, we had around 3 hours to wonder around and explore. We walked around the city looking at all the amazing buildings and churches, stopped for lunch and went inside the cathedral to explore.

The famous bay of Kotor is where you will find the city of Kotor, it looks like a fjord you could almost be in Norway due to the high mountains surrounding the bay. It is sometimes called Europe`s southernmost fjord but it is in fact a costal inlet, connected by four bays.

It is possible to climb part of the city walls and you would be rewarded by a fantastic view. We did not do this was it was the hottest day of our whole week in that part of the world!

Afterwards we drove about 15mins to the small but important town of Perast. There are two islands and we had the option to visit Lady of the Rocks is which a man -made island but decided just to walk around as we only had one hour. In fact we stopped and sat by the bay, had coffee and cake. It was so lovely just to sit down and admire the stunning scenery.

After our long day away, there was lots of traffic on the return journey plus crossing the border took a bit of time for some reason, we were all quite tired. It is definitely worth a trip from Dubrovnik!
