For my last post for 2012 it seemed like a good idea to recap on all the beautiful places I visited this year. I visited new places and revisited some old places, with family and friends and always had a good time.

In April with Alessio and my parents we went to Holland, there we visited Linden, Keukenhof gardens, The Hague and Utrecht. We stayed through out the trip in Amsterdam the only place that I had already seen about 4 times.

In May I revisited Dublin for a hen weekend, we visited the Guinness warehouse, took the tourist bus, had lovely afternoon tea in a posh hotel, listened to Irish music, got drunk and had lots of fun!

In July I went to Worksop in England for Hannah and Markus`s wedding, which was lovely, then stayed a bit longer and visited Sherwood forest.

At the end of July I went to Menorca with Alessio and there we met up with my parents, sister and her family. It was a great week, very hot and the kids had fun swimming. We visited the capital Mahon and the other city Cituadella.

In September my parents came to Zurich and we took a long weekend trip to Chamnoix, there we saw the majestic Mont Blanc and explored Chamnoix and the surrounding area.

Finally in October I went back to Scotland with Alessio, blessed with great weather we kept ourselves very busy. A trip to Berwick upon Tweed with my sister and two great family hikes, it is always good to return to Scotland.

Next year is looking already very interesting with a trip to Munich in January for a wedding and then in February I will go to Hong Kong for a week.

Hope you all had a great traveling year! Happy New Year and a great start to 2013!

P is for Patterns

Another post in the alphabet serie and I am on to the letter P which I had decided a while ago to chose the work patterns. So basically whenever I saw something that looked like a pattern I took a photo, so these photos are all taken in Holland.

The first two in a church in The Hague, then at the beach in Schevenigen, flowers from Keukenhof gardens and finally a bar in Amsterdam!

Next is the letter Q I had been really unsure what to use but now I have a word, enjoy the weekend wherever you are!

O is for Orange

I nearly forgot about this letter for some reason anyway the letter O is for the colour orange. The first two photos are taken in my home, then the next four are from Holland. The last one is from the Keukenhof gardens with my mother and Miffy a famous rabbit from Holland from the artist Dick Bruna! We had thought about visiting the museum in Utrecht but Alessio was feeling sick then so we had to cut short our trip that day!
Summer holidays are here and I am off to England for a wedding this weekend, photos to follow!!

Keukenhof Gardens Part 2

The last post on my trip to Holland, and since I had lots of photos from the gardens decided to do two posts. These wonderful gardens are now closed for the year, so you`ll need to plan your visit for next year. There was a large lake and in it these art objects of heads, also stepping stones which as you can imagine Alessio greatly enjoyed. I would not have enjoyed it so much if he had fallen in, as the lake did not look very inviting.

Already it is July and I have 2 trips planned a wedding in the UK and then a family holiday in Menorca. What is everyone else doing for the summer?

Amsterdam Snaps!

Back in April we spent 5 days in Holland, we based ourselves in Amsterdam, but took 4 days trips. The day we arrived and the day we left and of course the evening were all spent in Amsterdam. This was my 4th visit to this city and I have to say I really love Amsterdam. I love the canals, the architecture and the night-life is quite interesting too!!

I have to say that it was really good that we managed to visit 3 other cities too, as Holland has lots to offer than just Amsterdam. There are still lots of other places that I would have liked to have seen, maybe I will see them one day. This time we did not take a canal trip in Amsterdam, I have done that in the past, this holiday we did the boat trip in Utrecht.

If you have the chance to see other places in Holland then do so!
