Postcards of Porto Part 2

So awhile back I posted the first part of our trip to Porto in August, so here is the last part. We ended up in Porto after our week in the Azores with my father. This is a gorgeous city and well worth a trip. We planned to do a day trip to Coimbra but unfortunately I did not plan it so well, so we did not make it.  Here are the other things we did:

1) We visited Porto Cathedral, it is one of the city`s oldest monuments

2) Sao Bento Train Station, you might think why would you visit a train station apart from to leave the city but this train is beautiful. The historical station is know for it tiles (azulejo) which depicts scenes of the history of Portugal.

3) The Serralves Museum, this was a lovely museum and it had a great big park. In the park there were sculptures to find which of course Alessio liked to do!

4) Hop on/off bus this is normally not what I do, but for one day we thought and Alessio really wanted to go on it too!

5) The fantastic houses/flats with there coloured walls and balconies which I really liked to see

6) Port tasting, I really wanted to do this but with Alessio I decided not too. So the next time I visit Porto that will be on my list.

So if you have not been to this city then you really must, it is beautiful!

Here are some more blogs about Porto!

Streetart in Ponte Deglada, Azores

During the school summer holidays Alessio and I went to The Azores and we met my dad there too. One of the many interesting things about the capital town Ponte Delgada was the street art. It was all over the town, this is just some of the photos I took. Some of the street art was part of a walk and talk art festival from 2015.

We had a map which showed where the street art was located and Alessio had great fun trying to find the right streets. There was so much street art we had to really check which pieces belonged to the festival.

I liked the last one of the whale, which is quite fitting as here was the first and only time I have actually seen a whale.

I am glad it is the weekend, after a trying week at work, this weekend will be a quite affair!

Happy weekend folks!

Not long until the weekend!

House Art

Two weekends ago Alessio and I were in Zurich at one of our favorite parks, on a whim I decided to walk to a different tram stop. This meant walking in a different direction from the way we normally go for our tram. I spotted these two art works, there was one more but not so interesting as these ones. Not so sure if I would like this on my apartment block, but I guess the tenants have no choice in the matter.

Which one do you like the best?

A Walk Around Zurich

It is now 3 weeks since the renovations started in my kitchen and to be honest it is really getting to get on my nerves. So on Mondays which is the day I do not work I usually take off to avoid the dust and noise of the workmen!

I drove around a bit and finally ended up parking along the lake, from there I decided to walk into Zurich and explore some parts of the city. The area up from the Niederdorf street has some lovely small streets to explore and buildings to see. Then I came to Neumarkt which is a great area with lots of cool shops, made my way to Central. By this stage I was quite tired, so I made a break and stepped into a bookstore.

I then had to make my way back to the car park to be in time for Alessio coming home from school. So I will be happy when everything is finished at the end of this week.

Photo of the Week - Street Art Along the River

It has been a good while since I did a photo of the week post and after flicking through my recentish photos saw some (hopefully) good ones to put up.

While we were in Gloucester we took a boat trip up and down the river and we saw this bit of street art. There is an actual photo of Albert Einstein doing this and written on the wall is "It`s all relative".

It is nearly the weekend, only 2 work days left, reason enough to celebrate!!

Some Street Art in Paris

Back in March I went to Paris for the weekend with my friend Aimee, these photos were all taken on a bitterly cold Sunday. We started off at the Pomidou Centre, where we had tickets for the Salvador Dali exhibition but as the line up was long and we did not fancy waiting in the cold we opted for lunch instead.

Then we walked to a metro station and got off around the Canal St Martin area, as I had read that it was a nice area to walk in. Maybe it was due to the fact that it was not the best day to walk by a canal, it was not what I thought it would be like, hopefully in warmer days it looks different.

All the street art we saw looked cool and would have liked to see more, maybe another time!

Photo of the Week - Sreet Art from Amsterdam

This is taken in Amsterdam not sure where exactly anymore! I did not see lots of street art but maybe I was not looking in the right places!
