An Afternoon in Lucerne

Lucerne is always a lovely city to visit and this time I decided to visit the Richard Wagner Museum. It is roughly around 30mins walk from the main station and a rather nice one by the lake. The museum will not take long to visit, the lower floor has furniture, ornaments and music scores and information about the rooms. Upper floors had an exhibition, which was okay and since it was all in German it did not hold my attention. A nice cafe outside if you feel the need for refreshments.

Afterwards I walked back into the centre and walked around the old part, it has such lovely buildings and was very busy. I looked for a cafe for a short break and cool beer, afterwards returned to Zurich. All in all a nice afternoon and good to get away from Zurich even for a short time.

This weekend I am off to Geneva with my parents, we will go with the train so will get plenty of reading done. What is everyone else up too this weekend?

Lucerne by Night

The first weekend in November I went to Lucerne for the weekend with my friend Aimee, we stayed in a hotel. The old town of Lucerne is lovely with many fascinating buildings to look at and lots of interesting streets to wander along. This is post is mainly about how Lucerne looks at night, I love to see cities at night. It is just a pity that my camera is not so great or I am not so good at taking night photos.

The last photo is taken from a bar called, Suite & Lounge it is in a hotel, very near to the train station. You take the lift to the 7th floor and have brilliant views of the city, there is a roof terrace which is where I took the photo, although at this time of year it may be a bit chilly!!

Transport Museum Lucerne

This trip was with the children from work at the end of February and we had wonderful weather for it. As always the Transport Museum is hit with all children with so much to see and do. I liked the train section and we got lucky and a guide who is a retired train driver showed the children some of the insides of the trains.





There is a huge area with children can pretend to be construction workers, they can wear hard hats, waistcoats and use all the tools and implements available. We spent about a hour there letting the children enjoying themselves.
The next section we saw was the vehicule section, they have a special theatre in which 4 vehicules are picked and the audience can select which one they want to hear about, by pressing a buzzer. The children liked that bit too!


We went into the boat section and then onto the aircraft section and went on the large plane. This was also interesting for the children to see old planes, helicopters and other aircraft related items.



Finally came the time to go back, we all had a great time, well worth a visit more than once.
