A Long Weekend in Riga, Latvia Part 2

Very interesting bar!

So a quick trip back to Riga to finish off our travels to this city and one off the things you would notice about this city is that it is very colourful. It also has lots of amazing buildings and architecture too. You can also check out the photos from my first post about Riga on the blog.

We went to a cafe/bar called Black Magic, which was a tip from my Latvian friend Kat. It was very nice and I tried the drink Black Balsam which is from Latvia. It is very nice with prosecco but for me on its own not my cup of tea! I would definitely recommend a visit for sure!

This week has been filled with Alessio`s birthday, his birthday was on 3rd Sept and we had a small celebration that evening. Today was his party, which was a joint one with his friend Josiah. They decided to go to Alpamare. I had not been for over 15 years and could not remember much about the place. The boys had a super time, we had delicious carrot cake bake by Amy, Josiah`s mum and of course they got presents. So that it is over for another year!!

Hope you are all having a great weekend!

One of the long weekends we had early in Spring Alessio and I went to Riga, which is the capital of Latvia. Riga had been on my list of cities to visit for ages, so I was glad to finally cross it off!

It is such a lovely and colourful city in which we mainly just wondered around the enjoying all the scenery. We did do the hop on/off tourist bus which Alessio likes to do, I am not so bothered either way. I had planned to go on a day trip to the city of Jurmala, which is on the sea but in the end decided to stay in Riga and visit some museums.

I had so many photos that I decided to do two posts about Riga and the next one will come after our holidays.

So it is nearly the start of the school holidays for Alessio, the rest of this week and next week and finally we go on our big, big trip! We both can`t wait!!

Have a great mid week!

A Cafe in Riga

Just under two weeks ago Alessio and I had a long weekend in Riga, on our first day there we visited this cafe. I had promised to find someplace that sold ice cream and then we happened upon this delightful cafe! Alessio was quite happy to go in so we did! In the end he didn`t want ice cream as the many cakes on sale were just amazing.

The cafe also made it`s own chocolate which also looked delicious, so on our last evening we went back and got some to take home. In fact we still have some left so hopefully my parents will be able to taste some as they arrive very soon!

As I just mentioned on Friday my parents are coming to visit us for just over one week. Alessio and I are both looking forward to it. We have a few trips planned but otherwise we will be staying at home and going into Zurich.
