V is for Views
Finally getting to the end of the alphabet series, now onto the letter V and what better word than views. I have seen lots of wonderful views and was hard to pick only five on them, so here goes!
The first photo is of Lake Zug, then we have the city of Zurich from the Uetliberg, then it is Lake Gruyeres from the castle, then the beautiful city of Mahon in Menorca and finally Mont Blanc from Chamonix!
Which ones do you like the best?
Wishing you all a great weekend!

For my last post for 2012 it seemed like a good idea to recap on all the beautiful places I visited this year. I visited new places and revisited some old places, with family and friends and always had a good time.
In April with Alessio and my parents we went to Holland, there we visited Linden, Keukenhof gardens, The Hague and Utrecht. We stayed through out the trip in Amsterdam the only place that I had already seen about 4 times.
In May I revisited Dublin for a hen weekend, we visited the Guinness warehouse, took the tourist bus, had lovely afternoon tea in a posh hotel, listened to Irish music, got drunk and had lots of fun!
In July I went to Worksop in England for Hannah and Markus`s wedding, which was lovely, then stayed a bit longer and visited Sherwood forest.
At the end of July I went to Menorca with Alessio and there we met up with my parents, sister and her family. It was a great week, very hot and the kids had fun swimming. We visited the capital Mahon and the other city Cituadella.
In September my parents came to Zurich and we took a long weekend trip to Chamnoix, there we saw the majestic Mont Blanc and explored Chamnoix and the surrounding area.
Finally in October I went back to Scotland with Alessio, blessed with great weather we kept ourselves very busy. A trip to Berwick upon Tweed with my sister and two great family hikes, it is always good to return to Scotland.
Next year is looking already very interesting with a trip to Munich in January for a wedding and then in February I will go to Hong Kong for a week.
Hope you all had a great traveling year! Happy New Year and a great start to 2013!

Ciutadella, Menorca
My last post on the summer holiday with my family in Menorca back in July, this is the city called Ciutadella in western Menorca. I went with my sister for the day, it was nice to spend some time with Elena without having the kids around us.
Ciutadella used to be the capital of the island but now that is Mahon, once we arrived we found a place for a coffee. It was as usual a hot day, not necessarily the best for walking around a city, once we finished our coffee we walked around the market.
Then down to the port, where we saw some lovely views, it is much smaller than Mahon but still very nice and we stopped for a drink. There were definitely lots of expensive and fancy looking boats to check out! We also browsed around the shops and we both bought some jewelry.
We headed back into the city to an area we had not seen before and bought something small to eat and sat in the square next to the fountain. We saw lots of old and new buildings, I liked the old yellow building with the prints on it.
Since all the shops closed in the afternoon we decided to head back to our resort, it was a nice day and we were pleased to have visited Ciutadella.

Menorcan Words
Another post in the word series, this time from Menorca where Alessio and I spent one week in July. We visited both cities Mahon and Ciutadella both were lovely places to visit lots to see and do, although I mainly walked around enjoyed the sights. Also checking out some nice cafes to sit and relax and people watch.
The last evening in Mahon Alessio and I had dinner in an Italian restaurant in the port area very near to our hotel.

A Day in Mahon, Menorca
Back in July Alessio and I went to Menorca for one week, there we met my parents, Elena and Mark and their kids Liam and Jamie. The last big family holiday was in Majorca so it was nice to see the smaller island next door so to speak!
On the Tuesday we all took a day trip to the capital Mahon which was quite near, once there we had a quick look at the shops. It was really to hot to walk around so we went straight to the port and onto one of the sightseeing boats. We thought this would interest the boys and keep then happy, the boat also had under water windows so everyone could the fish life.
The trip was one hour and we got a lovely breeze which was well needed and we saw lots of lovely sights. Once we landed we wandered off to find a place to eat, everyone enjoyed different tapas and a cool beer!
Then a quick wander around again before the heat sent us home and to the pool back at our resort. Alessio and I went to Mahon again as we flew from Sunday to Sunday from Zurich and the rest of the clan flew from Saturday to Saturday from Edinburgh. We transferred from the resort on Saturday morning to a beautiful hotel with wonderful views of the sea. Luckily our balcony had one of best views, as you can see of the night photo of the yachts. Alessio enjoyed the pool and I enjoyed sipping a prosecco from my balcony in the evening.
