Ducks and Swans

I manage to see these lovely baby ducks and swans in the middle of June, I was walking in Zurich by the lake and was lucky to spot them.

I was quite happy as ducks and swans, had been the topic I was doing with the kids in my class. Although sadly they were not with me at the time, but I showed them the photos at a later date. The babies are just so dam cute and in fact I cannot remember the last time I have seen cygnets.

The weather has turned from hot to cold and very rainy indeed. In fact yesterday evening I was at the open air cinema and it really rained so hard for the first 30mins, that everyone was completely soaked through.

Have a good rest of the week!

Photo of the Week - Pigeons Galore!

This is in Plaza Catalunya in Barcelona, we went there on our first evening. The place was full of pigeons and Alessio was happy to walk through the whole bunch of them. Then this family was feeding them until suddenly someone walked a bit to near and they all buggered off! I have to say that I don`t really like the idea of all these birds around my head, when they fly off!

Wishing you all a good mid week!

Photo(s) of the Week - Bird Food

Ok, I am cheating a bit here with three photos, more from the garden, this little fellow in the top photo was really trying to get as much food as possible. The black bird just waited and got any bits that fell to the ground. A good idea really!

Little Robin Redbreast

Last week in the garden we put up a bird feeder, and I had honestly forgotten all about it until I was looking out the window and saw a robin. Then on another day I saw another one, and he was hopping around on the grass. I was quite happy to see one as I am not sure if I have ever seen one before!

Storks!

My parents arrive on Monday and since then the weather has been just horrible, they have not been able to do much. So yesterday which was Good Friday was the first nice day so out we all went, and I drove to the Greifensee.

On our walk we spotted these storks in their nests, it was really amazing to see them and one of the parents was looking after the baby.

And sadly the weather has gone back to rain, rain and guess what rain! Tomorrow hopefully will be a better day!

Montrose Basin

While we were in Scotland we had a day trip to Montrose, first we visited the Montrose Air Station Heritage Centre. Afterwards we stopped for lunch and then proceeded towards the Montrose Basin which is a nature reserve and home to over 50,000 migratory birds. These include pink footed geese, Artic terns and Red Knot to name but a few. You cannot actually walk around the area but the views were sensational!

I am not sure but these birds may be the pink footed geese. There were so many of them quite amazing really!

There is the Scottish Wildlife Trust!s Visitor Centre which we did not visit but seeing some of the reviews the place gets it sounds very much worth a visit. We did visit another bird centre near to Loch Leven called Vane Farm, that was also quite interesting. Alessio got to look through binoculars, read information about the visiting birds and there is cafe too.

Photo of the Week - Seagull

This hungry fellow was in Edinburgh, my sister and I were walking in Princes Street Gardens on our way to see an exhibition. It may be hard to imagine this from the photo but he was really huge, the seagulls here are just plain old big. Anyway it was pretty amazing to see it close up though!

More to come from the weekend in Edinburgh later on, hope you are all having a good week!

Birds in Davos

Back to Davos at the end of January while Aimee and I went for the walk around Lake Davos, we saw these lovely birds. They were not at all afraid of us as we got quite close and took the photos. Close ups are not so good on my camera but I tried, I have no idea what birds they are. Anyone know?

Wishing everyone a good start to the week!
