Montreux Jazz Festival 2017

After living here for many many years and never having visited the Montreux Jazz Festival decided to correct this fact. We decided just to go to any of the many free concerts put on at the festival. At first we wondered along the promenade and Alessio got his chance to go swimming as it was a very hot day!

Then we walked in the direction of the festival and managed to get a shaded spot at one of the free venues. We stayed there the whole time and heard quite a few different bands and they were all really great! We did not really sample much of the festival better to have stayed the night and enjoyed the evening but then you need to book accommodation well in advance! Maybe next year!!

Happy Swiss Day for tomorrow!!

Street Art/Graffiti in Milan

I do like to see to street art and while in Milan there was quite a lot to see. There was a lot in the area around the canals, which is where most of these photos are taken.

It is nearly the end of July and that means very soon will be my holidays! I am just so glad that next week I only have two working days. Alessio will return from his trip to Italy on 1st August and then a few days later we go to Scotland.

This weekend should see the temperature rise again after a week of rain. I hope to see the movie Dunkirk which has been given good reviews. Also a goodbye work party on Saturday evening, plus it is the time for Ironman competition and I know two people participating in this so good luck to Markus and David!

Have a great weekend!

Ducks and Swans

I manage to see these lovely baby ducks and swans in the middle of June, I was walking in Zurich by the lake and was lucky to spot them.

I was quite happy as ducks and swans, had been the topic I was doing with the kids in my class. Although sadly they were not with me at the time, but I showed them the photos at a later date. The babies are just so dam cute and in fact I cannot remember the last time I have seen cygnets.

The weather has turned from hot to cold and very rainy indeed. In fact yesterday evening I was at the open air cinema and it really rained so hard for the first 30mins, that everyone was completely soaked through.

Have a good rest of the week!

Beautiful Barcelona!

Casa Batlo

Casa Pedrera

Sagrada Familia

Plaza Real

Park Ciutadella

Agbar Tower

Marina

Beach at Barceloneta

In January Alessio and I took our first trip of the year to beautiful Barcelona, we had a fantastic time and saw lots of the city.

The famous buildings of Casa Batlo and Casa Pedrera by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi are just amazing we did not go in, as to be honest it was rather expensive and also Alessio was not interested in it. I would definitely go on another visit.

We also visited the Sagrada Familia which is also designed by Antoni Gaudi, is a huge Roman Catholic Church. It was pretty amazing inside. Of course we visited Camp Nou to see FC Barcelona play Las Palmas on Saturday afternoon and they won of course!

We wondered around the old centre of Barcelona, Barri Gotic, looking at all the amazing buildings and stopping for food and drink. We also visited the Park Ciutadella for a while, so Alessio could run around for a bit.

On our final day we visited the Maritime Museum as I thought this would entertain Alessio for a while and afterwards we wondered to the Barceloneta beach and Alessio dipped his feet in the sea. It had been such wonderful weather the whole long weekend.

It was a great trip!

Have a lovely weekend!
