Christmas Market in Einsiedeln

On December 1st we had a trip with the children from my work to visit the Christmas market in Einsiedeln. It was very misty in and around Lake Zurich but as soon as we got higher all we could see was lovely blue skies and the sun! Once we arrived we made our way towards the Christmas market, the people were all quite friendly and either waved to us or said hello.
It was quite impressive seeing all the huts from this view point, first of all we took the children in the Abbey. We warned them all that it was important to be quiet and they all behaved very well. Then we wandered in and out of the stalls looking at all the goodies on offer.

Right next to the market is a playground and it is there we had our lunch and the children got to run around and play.
We then went to explore around the abbey and we got to see a horse getting a hoof on, which was quite exciting for the children to see. Also we got to see two pigs which was also lots of fun.

The next lot of photos are from walking back down to the station, we all had a nice day out!

Photo of the Week - Heart Time!

This past weekend I went to Nuremberg in Germany to see the Christmas markets with my good friend Aimee. We took full advantage of the weekend without children and had a great time (more to come later). In the meantime while walking around the markets I spotted this heart shaped gingerbread, by the way it is all over the place! For non German speakers it says "I only love you", really cute!

A Hike in the Zurichberg

The day before was our work team building outing and we ended up at the Rigiblick, since I had never been up there before I felt inspired to go the next day again with Alessio. I did not have a particular hike in mind just once we got up there to wander around and let Alessio decide the route.

Alessio really enjoyed himself running, picking up sticks and taking photos of everything he could see. The one of his trainers is his own photo!

Not before long we came across this small pond where tadpoles and frogs live (not at the same time) since it was a lovely day, I sat on a bench and Alessio ran around having fun.

We ended up walking to Irchel park which I do not know that well considering I used to live relatively near it. This is the tallest building in Zurich, called Prime Towers at 126m.
In Irchel park the university has some building here, Alessio had fun at the pond, climbing on rocks and running up and down stairs.

Well this weekend is more Christmas markets but this time in Nuremburg!

Cookies Galore!

Just over 3 weeks to go until Christmas, but since we have been having quite mild weather, it hasn`t seemed very much like the build up for Christmas. To help with this lack of Christmas feeling last Sunday Alessio and I went into Zurich to sample some of the Christmas markets and of course the Samiclause parade. Before all of that we made Christmas cookies, I cheated and bought the already made dough but for Alessio he enjoyed just using the cookie shape cutters.

The experience went well and we bought more dough and will make another batch and more than likely bring them to Scotland as presents. I really like to see different Christmas markets and for the first time I will go to Nuremburg in germany for a visit.
