Street parade has finished but it was lots of fun, we all started out having a BBQ at Hannah and Markus`s place to get us in the mood. Lots of beer, wine and prosecco is always a good idea and lots of great food too!

Then hopping on the bus and train we make our way to Zurich city and Bellevue in particular. To say it was busy would be a understatment, apparently this year around 950,000 party people visited.

We went right into the thick of it and watched the floats go, as usual there were lots of brilliant costumes. From completely covered up to completely uncovered, faces painted, bodies painted you name it more than likely we saw it!

Once over we somehow managed to go over the bridge where the second last photo was taken and go for some food. It was a great day, made even better because of the company!!

My Favorite - Tigers

These wonderful animals Alessio and I saw in the zoo back in July. On past occasions it has been hard to spot even one, but to see 3 sitting on the rock enjoying the sun was just great to see.
It has been a while since I did a post in the series of my favorites and when I took these photos thought I would do one on my favorite animal - the tiger.

I have always loved tigers with their bright colours and black stripes, these guys looked cool. Especially  the photo where one has his eyes closed and taking some sun!

Sherwood Forest!

One weekend in July I flew to UK for the wedding of Hannah and Markus in Worksop which is close to Nottingham. The day after the wedding I went with Cristine, Jane and David who were also staying at the same B&B as me to Sherwood Forest. They were leaving later on that day so we had time to do a bit of exploring in the area. The adventure already started in the taxi we took to get to the visitor centre as she had no idea where it was! Rather strange since she was from that area and it is a big tourist
attraction.

Once were we had a quick look at the visitor centre and then decided to walk to see the Major Oak, it was quite busy with lots of families enjoying themselves. We saw lots of interesting trees shapes and sizes, like the huge tree trunk in the 2nd photo.

The major oak was huge and very impressive, needed to be held up. There was an information board about who was Robin Hood and was he a real person, also about the actual tree, and about Sherwood forest.

There were also many small sculptures dotted throughout the forest, afterwards we headed to the village of Edwinstowe home of the actual man himself, Robin Hood! We had a lovely lunch in one of many pubs and then took a taxi back to the B&B.
It was a great weekend and a post of the wedding is still to come! Keep looking!

Son Bou, Menorca

I returned one week ago from Menorca, having had a lovely family holiday in the resort of Son Bou about only 20 mins from the capital Mahon!

Alessio just loves to eat ice cream and can eat about 3 a day (more if he would be allowed!) The swimming area we most frequented was the one of the second photo, there the boys had great fun and us the adults watched them.

Our flat was quite basic but fine, I was on the ground floor, my sister and family above us and our parents next door. We mainly hung out in my flat for all our meals.

We ate in many different restaurants in the resort, most of them were ok, we tried some of the bars too. The last photo in an English place called The Kit Kat Bar where much to the enjoyment of all boys there was x-box and wii for them to play!

It was just nice to see all my family together for a change!

Photo of the Week - Pink Sun!

Photo of the Week comes from the island of Menorca in the Mediterranean where Alessio and I spent one week with my parents and my sister`s family too. We stayed in a resort called Son Bou relatively near to the capital Mahon.

On my first evening in the resort we all saw this wonderful sunset, having seen a few in my lifetime this one has to be the most beautiful if only due the sun being pinkish! I took more photos but this has the sun showing itself the most pink, just lovely!

Bruno Weber Park

The beginning of july we had a work outing with the kids to the Bruno Weber Park, since the topic for the past month had been art, we thought this place would be good to visit.

Bruno Weber was a Swiss artist and architect who specialized in fantastic realism. In his park which also has his house with a 25m tower there are lots of brilliant sculptures big and small to see!

The children enjoyed climbing up the steps of the dragon and walking along the top, there is also a beautiful water garden. Actually nearly all the sculpture could be climbed on and the kids did that, some  of the sculptures made noises which was a big hit with the kids.

It is only open on weekends and wednesday afternoon, plus from April to October. It is worth visiting to see these great sculptures. There is a kiosk for snacks and drinks, there are tables also if you want to have a picnic.
